Dr. Richard T. Redmond

 

Chairman and Associate Professor, Department of Information Systems, specializes in software engineering, database systems, expert systems and applications of AI to business. His research and publications have been in the areas of software productivity, expert systems, applications of AI to business, database/imagebase design theory and compression theory. Dr. Redmond was instrumental in introducing the C programming language into the undergraduate curriculum at VCU. He has conducted many C and C++ programming seminars for local businesses through the Information Systems Research Institute. Dr. Redmond joined the faculty at VCU in the Fall of 1983. He served as Acting Chairman from January of 1994 until Fall of 1996, Director of Technology, Department of Information Systems from 1996 until Summer of 2000, and Acting Chairman from Summer of 2000 to July 1, 2001 when he was named Chair.
