
Ojelanki K. Ngwenyama,
Short Biography:
I am Professor of Information Systems at Virginia Commonwealth University,
and Extraordinary
Professor in the Department of Informatics, Faculty of Management Sciences
and Member of the Board of Directors of the
School of Information Technology, University of Pretoria. I am also Docent (Research
Professor) at University of Jyväskylä,
Finland; and Visiting Research Professor at Aalborg
University, Denmark. My research which focuses on information systems and
their organizational implications is informed by critical
social theory (CST). My papers have been published in a wide range of international
journals. In 1997 Allen Lee
and I won the
MISQ
Best Paper Award. I am currently an Associate Editor of MIS Quarterly
(2002-2004). I have co-edited two books, Transforming
Organizations With Information Technology: Information Technology and New
Emergent Forms of Organizations, North Holland, 1994 and New Information
Technologies in Organizational Processes: Field Studies and Theoretical
Reflections on the Future of Work, Kluwer, 1999. In co-authored a book Learning
To Improve: Software Process Improvement In Practice (with Lars Mathiassen and
Jan Pries-Heje, Addison Wesley, 2001).
I have been an active
member IFIP WG 8.2 since 1986.
